Joseph Gibbs Named to EverCare Board of Trustees

Joseph GibbsEverCare, a non-profit organization providing Managed Long-Term Care Plan (MLTCP), Certified Home Health Agency, and Social Adult Day Care services in the Hudson Valley, recently announced that Joseph Gibbs of Newburgh, N.Y. has been appointed to its Board of Trustees.

Gibbs is a member of EverCare Choice, EverCare’s MLTCP, and a participant in the EverCare Social Day Program.

“Mr. Gibbs is a very active member of the EverCare family, and is well-known among the staff and other Day Program participants,” said EverCare President and CEO Sylvia McTigue. “As a representative of EverCare’s nearly 1,000 patients and members, Mr. Gibbs provides an invaluable perspective that will help us make wise decisions as we continuously seek to improve the lives of those in our care.”

Gibbs suffered a series of significant health events that led to a 4-year recovery period in a nursing home, where he had to relearn how to walk and talk. After being discharged, Gibb’s transition back into the community was not an easy one.

That changed after he met with an EverCare assessment nurse, who introduced him to EverCare’s managed long-term care services. A month later, he started attending EverCare’s social day program. “The Social Day Program gave me renewed hope and confidence,” said Gibbs. “I love people; I love a good conversation. I needed to be out and socialize with my peers; I needed human interaction. That’s what the Social Day Program provides to me.”

When the opportunity presented itself to give back to EverCare as a member of its Board of Trustees, Gibbs did not have to think twice about accepting the appointment.

“EverCare helps people of all walks of life, making their lives easier and keeping them healthy and happy living in their communities,” said Gibbs. “I wanted to be a part of that; there’s nothing that pleases me more than spreading joy to others and knowing I can impact the future of this great organization.”

“EverCare has made my life so much easier and rewarding; the Social Adult Day Care Program keeps me active and moving. I love it here,” Gibbs added. “I’m here five days a week, and I’m always the last one out the door.”
